Greetings,  At our local music museum we have a Mills Violano with
many rolls.  Some of these rolls have a permanent spindle in them but
we also have many with no spindles.

How did the Mills company intend for these to be played?  Did these
have a removable spindle?

There are a few spindles with no rolls on them but no visible way to
separate them or get them on a roll with no spindle.  I hope this isn't
too confusing!  Thanks
