Krytox & Teflon & Graphite Lubricants
By Jody Kravitz

Regarding the article in 000723 MMD by John Spradley. DuPont's
Lubricants web site covers Krytox. The "film" form is described as
an "ultra low molecular weight polytetrafluoroethylene fluorotelomers
(PTFE)". This would seem to put it in the same family as Teflon
(also PTFE).

There's a variety of grades of PTFE. I'd have to assume that the
length of the polymer chains affects the properties a lot. There's
an FAQ of sorts at http://www.dupont.com/lubricants/63547.htm
The main web page for Krytox is at http://www.lubricants.dupont.com/
