Brass D-Rings for Music Roll Tabs
By Rob DeLand

I noticed the Player Piano Company white plastic tabs too and I'm not
real crazy about them. They just don't look as good in my opinion,
and I doubt they're as durable either.

I've also noticed that the latest D-rings seem to be more acidic,
because I've put rubber bands over them and within a month or two the
band has deteriorated where it touched the ring, to the point where it
sticks to the metal then breaks when pulled away. I have other rolls
in my collection with D-rings which have had rubber bands touching them
for over a year without any noticeable deterioration at all. There's
gotta be something different about these!

Regards,
Rob DeLand

[ The difference is probably D-rings of brass alloy versus stainless
[ steel alloy, which is much less reactive. Ask Janet Tonnesen!
