I was wondering why you didn't simply migrate the list to e-groups
where all of this has been operational for many, many months.  :)

 [ We have a fairly elaborate mailing scheme for MMD, based upon the
 [ sender's email address, which can replace the name and address that
 [ appear in the "From" line of MMDigest.  For example, some subscribers
 [ ask that the Digest be sent to a work address which they don't want
 [ published publicly.  Another feature unique to MMD is the indexed
 [ Archives, which is automatically generated.  (Someday Jody will have
 [ an honest-to-goodness search engine for the Archives, so that one
 [ can search for a character string, like Alta Vista does.)

 [ The need for automation is simple: we have over 1100 subscribers, and
 [ about 2% change their email address each month.  Another
 [ 1% un-subscribes while maybe 1.1% joins as new subscribers.  We have
 [ studied the commercial and shareware list servers and none of them
 [ do quite what we want, so Jody wrote a list-server program which
