Dr. Jean Lawrence Cook, W. C. Handy, Frank Melrose
By Mike Meddings

The Ferd 'Jelly Roll' Morton page has been updated with an article
from the 24th September issue of The Washington Afro-American newspaper
titled "Who First Sang the Blues." This is a side-by-side summarized
statement by both Morton and Handy, courtesy of MMD member Prof. Alan
Wallace.

On the recordings page a rare picture of the National record label of
Muddy Water Blues - courtesy of Roger Richard.

I've made contact with the daughter of Frank Melrose and she has
provided me with some detailed information about her father. This
is an ongoing project. Please visit the Frank Melrose page.

I have also made contact with the son of J. Lawrence Cook. Dr. Jean
Lawrence Cook has retired from a distinguished career in academic
medicine and now lives in France.

Musically yours

Mike Meddings
