Hi,  Last night I finally gathered my courage and had a first peek at
the stack of my Steck Pedal-Electric (PEDA) Duo-Art.  My first goal is
to replace the tubing and see if I can get some music out by pedalling
it like a pianola.  These were the things I discovered :

1) All the pictures I've seen in specialized books and manuals show an
Aeolian "three deck" stack.  Mine has only two decks and, I presume,
smaller bellows.  Actually the whole system looks very well conceived
and compact to the neophyte I am.

2) The bellows are glued on leather so it won't be to difficult to
eventually remove them for re-covering.  I'm wondering if this is
original or if the bellows have been redone before.

3) Removing what was left of the tracker bar tubing was difficult since
the nipples leading to the valve chambers and bellows are not sticking
out but are located inside holes drilled in the wood.  The tubing
cracked like uncooked macaroni.  So it took me hours to poke with a
sharp paper cutter in the holes and scrape off the hardened rubber.

The lower deck was especially difficult because I had to reach far
between the wooden rods that activate the piano keys, and for a first
time I didn't want to go to far in disassembling.  I also discovered
I'm at a point I apparently start needing reading glasses.  :-(

Is there a fluid I can use clean the nipples thoroughly so that the new
tubing slides on easily?  Something that when an excess runs down it
doesn't dissolve the shellac that is holding the nipple in it's place
at the other end.  Or is fine sanding paper a better option ?
