Repair of Reproducing Piano Electric Motor
By Michael Coup

Concerning the Welte Holtzer-Cabot motor [001029 MMDigest],
there are several motor restorers available in the Antique
Fan Collectors Association, if Mr. Helfman wants it restored.
I would guess a complete rebuild, rewind, bearings, etc.,
might cost a couple hundred dollars though.

Suggest you contact Paul Graves at 972-579-2977 as a start. He is
a fine restorer of antique fans and could either do the motor or
recommend someone.

[ Don't be surprised at the price, though; good workmanship costs.
[ The customer should obtain a description of the job and a firm
[ price beforehand, and discuss how the rebuilder will demonstrate
[ that his work is satisfactory. (E.g., measure the hum and noise
[ and imbalance with the motor mounted on a sounding board, etc.).
[ The specifications for a motor in a player piano are different
[ from fan motor specs. -- Robbie
