I too have a 15" Polyphon with no dampers, and like that of Wayne
Finger, it does have brakes.  Unfortunately it is now in storage in
New York, so at this time I cannot compare it with the picture sent
by Mr. Finger.

Experts who looked at mine some years ago, shortly after I bought it,
told me it is a very early Polyphon, and had felt dampers.  The method
of operation, as I remember it being described to me, is the same as
described by Houston Maples.  Mine also lacks the damper cover.

I would also like to restore mine.  If Mr. Finger, Mr. Maples, or
anyone else needs these parts, perhaps we can get together and have
them made, as a in group project (even if the group is only two).
They should cost less than making only one set.
