Piano Roll Artist Ralph Rainger
By Dean Randall

There have been some interesting posts about Rainger of late on MMD.
He was born Ralph Reichenthal, 7 October, 1901, in New York City, and
died 23 October, 1942, in an airplane crash. He had been a resident of
Beverly Hills, CA for some time. He adopted the professional name
Ralph Rainger in the late 1920s.

He made 28 recordings for the Ampico under the name of Reichenthal,
six under the name of Ralph Rainger, and a number of others in duet
with Adam Carroll and with Edgar Fairchild using, in these duets, the
name Rainger.

I am not familiar with the QRS roll 3445, but his Ampico recordings are
stylistically quite identifiable.
