Was Beethoven Poisoned?
By Jim Moore

Beethoven may have consumed the lead accidentally, as I understand
he liked to drink and the most common vessels of the time were made
of pewter, which had a very high concentration of lead. The alcohol
leeched the lead out of the pewter and it was then consumed in the
beverage.
