I am subscribed to a newsletter from Brass Ring Entertainment, a
company that restores carousels and seems to do quite a job copying
and restoring items in dreadful condition.  They use top carvers and
horse painters from all over the country.  If anyone is interested

carousel horses were also known to carve band organ facades.
