Prices Paid at Chartres Auction 10 Dec 2000
By Robbie Rhodes

The complete list of prices paid at the Chartres auction, 10 December
2000, is now with the catalog descriptions. The files are temporarily
at http://mmd.foxtail.com/Events/ but they will soon be moved to
http://mmd.foxtail.com/Auctions/ Thanks to Joyce Brite for creating
the HTML web page.

I asked Philippe Rouille about item 766, "Repetiteur Mnemosyne
... a totally reliable locator of high precision." He writes that
a phonograph specialist provided this explanation:

"It is a kind of metal arm which may be fixed at the center of
the phonograph turntable, and which obliges the arm to repeat a
pre-determined portion of the record a pre-fixed number of times
(2, 3 or 4, for example). It was used by language learning methods
using phonograph records, to repeat, for example, the same group of
  sentences...

  "I am not sure it works on a CD ... :-) "
