While I can't verify if Roger Erickson wrote it, I can certainly vouch
for it being read every year on their show.  We lived in the Twin
Cities for 15 years, until 1989, and woke up to Boone and Erickson
every morning.  And yes, you haven't heard school-closing announcements
until you've heard Boone and Erickson!
