Don Teach asked, "Does anyone know why some Seeburg E's have a 1/6
horsepower motor and some have a 1/8 hp?"

The 1/8 hp motor was generally used in Seeburg Es with xylophone, and
the 1/6 hp motor was generally used in the Seeburg Es with pipes, as a
bit more energy was needed to move the reciprocating pumps supplying
the with pipe pressure.

You can also find 1/6 hp motors in Style F's which have pipes, and in
the Style L keyboard Orchestra with a single rank of pipes.  There may
also be some Seeburg G's that use the 1/6 hp motor.

This was not the only example of slight differences in motors: Seeburg
Ks and KTs used 1/8 hp motors, but the KT Special with a slightly
larger rotary pump used a 1/6 hp motor.
