I can't get to the photos at Canterbury.nsw.gov.au either.  Their site
must be down.

The fires have not affected the city, so would not have affected the
government web sites.  The fires are either in the mountains behind
Sydney (about 20 miles west from us!), and along the coast north and
south of Sydney.  We did have a fire in a national park that adjoins
a built-up suburb in northern Sydney, but it's now under control.

So far there are 15,000 fire fighters, 100 helicopters, a 150-kilometer
firefront (plus others), 600,000 hectares on fire, 100+ homes burnt
down and 23 arsonists arrested.
