APP Roll Recutting Project at Play-Rite
By Don Teach

Mrs. Jeanne Malone is the person that recuts all the rolls at
Play-Rite. Many of us that have been collecting for a long time know
the rolls that the Malones have recut. Just about every kind of roll
made for piano or orchestrion or band organ has been recut by them.
All the masters were sold several years ago.

I have been doing a Wurlitzer APP roll project with her for the past
year. So far she has been able to ship about 25 different rolls to
the members of the [subscription] group. I have one set of one hundred
rolls left for sale. This has been a slow process and I want to thank
everyone that has been patient.

Mrs. Malone will turn 90 on June 8, 2002. She cuts the rolls, puts
the label on each roll one at a time, waits for the glue to dry, puts
the leaders on each rolls one at a time. She does it all.

The second set of 24 rolls for the Wurlitzer project were due out
in December. Mrs. Malone was disappointed when she was not able to
complete the set but hopes to ship in about two weeks.

Thanks
Don Teach
