My suggestion that Mike Ryan should suspend his piano from the ceiling
was inspired by the famous story about Pauline Alpert.  She apparently
did a stage act wherein she was lowered from the Gods, piano and all,
playing away, as the introduction to her performance.  They dropped
this part of the show after a rope broke and dropped her !

It's quite possible that some of the more famous and spectacular acts
were filmed, and the Charles Davis Smith Duo-Art catalogue says that
Ms.  Alpert appeared in many "Musical Film Shorts".  It would be
fascinating to see some of our familiar piano roll friends in action
and I've been watching out for such things for years without success.
Are there any film buffs in the MMD fraternity who might be able to
throw some light on such things and tell us if any copies survived ?
