2nd Pianola Concert on Penobscot Bay
By Douglas Henderson

Hello MMD readers,

[ Separated by the editor from a message on the Stravinsky thread.]

On another topic, my 2nd Pianola concert just ended, tonight, here on
Penobscot Bay, the second season of them. This was a Gershwin-oriented
program, and even included a side-by-side comparison of RHAPSODY IN
BLUE: the Aeolian Hall PRIMO demonstration roll, and part of the Robert
Armbruster "played by Gershwin" Duo-Art arrangement, sold to the naive
public of the times. The highlight of the evening included ON THE TRAIL
from the "Grand Canyon Suite", by Ferdie Grofe, our Duo-Art
'Interpretive Arrangement', interpreted on the Story & Clark Reprotone
upright, here at Searsport Shores.

In spite of blinding rain, we managed to have an good audience, with
hearty applause ... plus an 'afterglow' at the reception, which
followed, a new feature for this beautiful seaside resort. The next
Searsport Shores concert will be on July 11, featuring classical music
FOR the pneumatic player, as well as arrangements which can only be
performed in this medium of perforated rolls.

        Regards,
                (signed) Douglas Henderson
