Stravinsky "Rite of Spring" Piano Rolls
By Jon Miller

The recent discussion about the Stravinsky Firebird Suite rolls
brought to mind a couple of rolls I recently acquired. They are on the
"Aeolian-Pianola" label: four rolls containing Le Sacre Du Printemps
(Rite of Spring). The labels claim "transcribed for player piano by
Stravinsky", and have 1965 printed on the label. The roll is coded
with Themodist (snake bite) holes.

(As a side note, I have yet to be able to play even one roll in it's
entirety for others listening; usually they cover their ears and beg
me to stop or they laugh hysterically.)

Another interesting note is that, on the leader, the information that
is on the label is hand printed, followed by a stamp with the usual
"Artona" logo.

Does anyone know much about this set of rolls? Was it actually
"transcribed for player piano by Stravinsky?"

Unfortunately, I only have the first two rolls of the set of four.
Does anyone have rolls three and four that they will either part with
or record for me?

Thanks
