Rebuilding a Player Piano
By James Jelinek

I would like to comment on the suggestion that some poor novice pick
up a copy of Given's book on player rebuilding. Many years ago when
I was just learning the in's and out's and do's and don'ts of player
repair I chanced upon a copy of this book.

I was totally confused by it and it lead me to believe that just
about all player pianos were built alike and were very similar to
restore. I quickly discarded the book for some common sense and some
advice and information from old timers. There aren't too many of the
"old timers" left around these days and I suppose some of us are now
fast becoming the next generation of old time rebuilders.

The one volume that I still use and find extremely helpful is Art
Reblitz's book "Player Piano Servicing & Rebuilding." I have to give
this book and it's author applause for providing a really good text
that provides all the basics and many of the details needed by amateurs
and old timers alike. I never met Art Reblitz but it would be an honor
to do so.
