Introduction & Tracker Bar With Extra Slots
By Brian Lackie

[ John Tuttle wrote in 020702 MMDigest about a Steck tracker bar
[ with extra slots. (Photo at http://mmd.foxtail.co/Pictures/ )

I have seen this also on an early Steinway Pianola, a 1914 German
Hamburg model, if this is of interest. This is the only example
I have seen. It took me some time to work out the idea of how it
worked, which it must have, otherwise Steinway would not have used it.

I have a late model Duo-Art grand 1932, also an upright Ampico Knabe
1928, as well as an extensive collection of gramophones, phonographs
and a large vintage wireless collection.

Thanks for the great work you are doing. How am I able to contribute
to the cause?

Regards.

[ Welcome to MMD, Brian. We don't yet have a good way to accept
[ contributions from abroad except for PayPal. (Did you read that
[ eBay plans to buy PayPal?!) Someday, when Jody establishes a method
[ to accept foreign currency, we will tell everybody how to contribute.
[ Until then, please enjoy MMDigest gratis. :-)

[ Can you recall for us any details about how the slotted tracker bar
 [ system worked? -- Robbie
