I have a 1920 Steinway XR (New York) in a factory quarter-sawn oak
case.  I wrote to Steinway and Sons when I purchased it in 1981.
I received a reply stating that it was the only oak Duo-Art grand
they had on record.  Their records also indicated it had a "butcher
wax" finish.

An interesting feature is that the structural bracing on the underside
of the piano is typical fan shaped Steinway, which leaves no room for
an internal rotary pump.  It's playing on a remote steamboat pump.  It
has no SOFT/NORMAL lever.  The piano and the Duo-Art are completely
restored.  It's a truly beautiful instrument.
