Hello,  I would like to introduce myself to the group, and ask for
your help, please.  My name is Neil Ramsay and I live in Herefordshire,
England.  I have really enjoyed perusing the archives and reading the
recent MMD correspondence.

I bought a cheap, but working, player about a year ago, and it has
become a bit of a passion (obsession?).  The biggest revelation was
just how much fun it was to 'play' it.  I like 19th century classical
music, especially Schumman, so needs a lot of work with the
Tempo/Ritard levers.  Why would anyone want to put a motor in?

Help!  About three months ago I overhauled the piano action, including
reshaping the hammers.  When it all went back in and worked I was
pretty pleased.  The tone was a little too bright but okay.

In the last week or so about four or five of the mid-range treble notes
have started sounding terrible: a sort of metallic 'clunk' when played
loud.  Overall the sound seems a bit harsher.  I don't think I have
done anything specific to cause this recently; what has happened?

My player gets pretty heavy use, on average a couple of hours a day.
Any advice gratefully received.
