Repairing 8-Track Tape Cartridge
By Roger Hughes

Hi Terry, This is a simple repair. Reassemble the cartridge and
slowly pull out more tape from the feeder side to insure that there is
nothing binding the tape.

Now just hold the 8 track cartridge so the tape opening is facing down,
grab a 6 inch section of tape that is hanging from the feeder side (
the side opposite the rubber roller) and pull quickly and let go of the
tape. This will cause the internal tape spool to rotate and the excess
tape length will be "sucked up" into the cartridge.

You may have to repeat this several times, but it does work as long as
the tape is not jammed on something. The important thing seems to be
having the cartridge tape opening facing down.

Regards,
Roger Hughes-Texas
