Using Silicone Sealant on Valve Pouches
By Al Pebworth

Hi Bill, I believe that there is nothing better for pouches that good
old fish glue. It tacks fast, dries hard, is water soluble for future
removal, and you work with it at room temperature. If you have never
tried it, let me send you a sample. Just give me your mailing address.
This would apply to anyone else on the MMD that has never tried fish
glue.

I use silicon adhesive for sealing the pouch leather, but I use an
electronic version, with no acetic acid smell. This is also very thin,
used for covering electronic circuit boards. A small dab on my finger
tip rubbed into the pouch, doing about six at a time, then a terry rag,
using your finger tip, lightly rubbing the pouch to remove all that you
can, changing you finger position to get a clean spot on the rag for
every pouch. I do this about 4 or 5 times, or until the shine is gone.
Pouch is sealed 100%, and if you need to glue a lifter disk to the
sealed pouch, just use a dab of silicon. If you or anyone else wants
the number, just email <al@pebworths.com>

I guess you have never had to rebuild an instrument that has had
silicon put everywhere... Nah!
