New Owner Plays Piano Roll Reversed
By Eric Shoemaker

Hi everyone -- One of the very first players I ever tackled was a
Baldwin Manualo and it played perfectly. Within an hour of returning
to my shop I was verbally berated, swore at and vilified by the
customer because her piano sounded like ...! I couldn't figure
out what was wrong so immediately started back (a 60-mile drive)
to see what the problem was.

"The Maple Leaf Rag" is _not_ one recording you'd want to hear upside
down! This of course explained why the piano would not "reverse"
(re-roll) properly since the drive slot was on the wrong side of the
spoolbox. She then wrote a check for $100.00 to buy my silence and
I'll never reveal her name! That was over 15 years ago!

Mr. Kiser asked why his Hale electronic piano tuner isn't "cabaret(ing?)"
correctly; maybe it just wants to stay at home for a nice romantic
evening by the fire?! :)

Raining too many cats and dogs, from Tacoma, WA,
