Logos Foundation Keytop Piano Player
By Mickey Sadler

Hi All, Have you seen the automated Vorsetzer by the Logos Foundation
at http://www.logosfoundation.org/instrum_gwr/playerpiano.html
(I saw a reference to this site on the SchoberOrphans group on Yahoo
groups.)

It has theory, schematics and printed circuit board layouts on the
site, and a music composition language, <GMT>, is available also.
Examples of using this to write software for the Vorsetzer is there
also. Wander around the web site for some interesting musical devices.

From the web page http://www.logosfoundation.org/kursus/2116.html :

Important notice: Copyright & Patents strictly prohibited.
We herewith put both code and hardware design in the public domain
and whoever patents or copyrights any of our inventions - thereby
blocking scientific and artistic progress - or the outcomes
thereof in any country, will be prosecuted. These designs can be
freely used on the only condition that their author be mentioned.

[ The bank of solenoids sits above the piano keyboard, much like
[ the QRS Playola keytop solenoid player attachment. When rented
[ for performances the system must be insured for 10,000 euros!
 [
[ Dr. Raes, of Ghent, Belgium, is also a composer and performer
[ of avant garde music. His paper, "The absurdity of copyright",
[ develops the premise that "information cannot be possessed; it is
[ not property since it cannot be taken away." The paper (in English)
 [ is at http://www.logosfoundation.org/copyleft/copyrigh.html
