I presume you're running Windows.  A couple times a year I have to fix
this too.

Launch Windows Explorer and click the "Name" column once (or twice) to
sort in ascending order by name.  Now, _hold down_ the Ctrl key while
closing Explorer.  All your File-Open and File-Save dialogs should now
appear sorted correctly.
