Phil Jamison asked about dowels for a reed organ.  I do not know of a
source for these.  In restoring a stack I needed dowels that measured
a metric diameter.  I bought dowels that were close but oversize to the
ones I needed.  Then, I took a piece of steel and drilled a series of
consecutively smaller holes in it.  I filed the top surface of the
steel to make sure I had a sharp edge on at the top of each hole.

I pulled the dowel through each hole until I reduced the diameter to
the size required.  The job came out very well.  I would suggest buying
a reamer from MSC for the final hole because twist drills sometimes do
not make perfectly round holes in the steel.
