Coin-operated Automata Maker John Dennison
By Nick Hawkins

Dear MMD members, I am researching early working models (coin-op
automata) for a mechanical music sale that takes place in May.
I'm particularly looking for information on John Dennison, an early
English maker based in Leeds during the 1880s.

Dennison was one of the pioneer makers in this field, who made small
musical scenes for public display, including magicians, fortune tellers,
and coin-op conversions of contemporary French automata.

There's very little written about this maker, apart from a brief
mention in the Nic Costa book. Does any one have more information?
All help gratefully accepted!

Regards,

Nick Hawkins
