New Mechanical Music Museums in France
By Philippe Rouillé

Dear MMDs, I just updated the museum page for French museums with
mechanical music instruments on the web site musica mecanica.

About a hundred miles west of Paris, a museum was closed last year
(Le Bec Hellouin) and its collections sold, but two other museums
opened this spring :

- Philippe Corbin's museum in Dollon, about 20 miles east from
Le Mans : a fine little collection in an old typical village French
cafe, with good mechanical pianos. Philippe is a professional piano
restorer and tuner, and welcomes his visitors with great kindness
and enthusiasm.

- Gerard Boquie's museum in Mesnil Raoul, a small village ca 10 miles
east of Rouen : a rather large collection of organs, phonos, etc.,
as Gerard is a collector for many scores of years now. He is also
a good entertainer, and a well-known figure in festivals with his
automatic accordion and organs.

For particulars on these two museums, go to
http://www.musicamecanica.org/, Museums, France, West.

Musica mecanica : an agenda and a listing of associations and museums
worldwide. Give an eye to these pages before travelling! I try and
maintain them updated, when I have time (a little difficult these last
months), and according to the information I find or which is given
to me.

With best regards,

Philippe Rouille (Paris, France)
