Calliope Didn't Play on America's Independence Day
By Bill and Dee Kavouras

Just a note in answer to Bob Taylor's inquiry about what we did with
our instruments on the 4th of July.

Inverness, Florida, one of our largest and closest towns, was having
a well-promoted celebration for the weekend of the Fourth. We called
the events chairman for the park district and offered to bring our
calliope to be in the parade and afterward that to play for the event.
We offered to do this for free, just to provide some entertainment.

We were told that the parade was very short and just for the police
and rescue workers, etc. Also, they were having a DJ for the events
in the park. Soooo, they said that they our services were not needed.
Bummer!

So, our calliope is now for sale.
