Finishing Wood Organ Pipes
By D. L. Bullock

The traditional finish for wooden organ pipes is always shellac.
It is the most forgiving finish; it does not chip off like lacquer.
It does show scratches that disappear with a touch of alcohol or
more shellac. It is my personal favorite finish. If you get really
into it you can learn to French polish. It is originally shellac
based.
