Aeolian Recording Piano of 1904
By Adam G. Ramet

I think it extremely unlikely Popper & Co ever exhibited any player
device weighing 80 tons. At a glance, I should say a mistake was made
here. What probably was meant was a device of 80 tones, i.e. 80 notes,
the same as the playing scope of the latter Duo-Art.

I have a sneaky suspicion that this is a similarly bizarre translation
error to that which led to Michaelangelo's famous statue of Moses
being made with horns sprouting from its head due, to a mistranslation.
The translation from the Hebrew should have read 'rays of light' but
was mistranslated as 'horns', resulting in a rather unusual statue of
Moses.

Sincerely

Adam Ramet
