I recently bought from a book shop in Wales a copy of the book,
"A Guidebook of Automatic Musical Instruments", by Q. David Bowers,
Volumes 1 & 2, in soft back cover.

I have never seen these before.  Were they a forerunner to the
'Bible': the "Encyclopedia of Automatic Musical Instruments"?
