Welte-Mignon Artist Bernhard Stavenhagen
By Randolph Herr

Does anyone out there have a Welte Roll of Bernhard Stavenhagen playing
Liszt's Hungarian Rhapsodie #12? I am not necessarily looking to buy
it; what I want is a photocopy of the leader where Stavenhagen writes
in German words something like "This is how I heard Liszt play it".

I know I definitely saw this many years ago, and I recall it was
printed on the leader of a Red Welte roll, and I hand copied these
words, and had a German friend translate it for me. Unfortunately,
I can no longer find this copy I made, and even if I did, I would still
like to get a photocopy or scan or photo of this writing as I have
begun to give pianola recitals, and showing this writing as part of the
audio-visual presentation will make the roll that much more enjoyable.

Has anyone else ever seen this? Could it be I saw it in a Welte
catalogue? Could I have seen it on a T-98 Green Welte roll? Any
information will be much appreciated.
