Wurlitzer 165 Organs at Lincoln Park & Griffith Park
By Carl Zwanzig

Perhaps my memory is failing, but I remember visiting the Griffith Park
Carousel in the 1974/5 timeframe, and I don't remember seeing a 165
there at all (I'm familiar with the physical size and the sound of
them). There was a quite beat-up Mortier outside the carousel; I doubt
it was playable, and I think some sort of smaller organ (a 153?) in the
center (which may have actually been recordings, I'm not sure at this
point).

I'm actually rather curious about the Mortier, since I wouldn't have
expected one in that setting. It wasn't a small either, probably at
least 12-14' wide. From what I could see, it was missing a fair bit
of the pipework.
