Materials for Repairing Music Rolls
By Jonathan Holmes

Just a note to say that as I work in a museum, we use conservation
quality materials everyday. The company we use to get most of our
supplies from is Conservation By Design. They also hold a Royal
warrant in the UK to supply Her Majesty the Queen. They stock a huge
range of materials and equipment. Their web site can be found at
http://www.conservation-by-design.co.uk/

May I also suggest that you log onto the site of the Museum Association
in UK, this site has a suppliers searchable index.

One major thing to remember when restoring rolls: do _not_ use any type
of sticky Cellotape as it always deteriorates in some way or another.
You can get a tissue, that is the best way to mend rolls. But beware
that anything you place on one side should nearly always be placed on
the other side, otherwise the roll will not reroll straight and will
probably rip once again.
