Hello all,  For the past few years I've been in college and out of
touch with the player piano world save working in Lynn Bullock's shop
for a summer.

Recently I read on the MMD about an Ampico upright for sale near me.
It's only about 20 minutes' drive from my house.  It's a full Ampico
with electric pump, virgin condition, ivory keys (very yellowed),
Chickering, and it "needs the works".  The piano itself isn't really
capable of being played, even if it were tuned.  It desperately needs
action felt replaced, dampers, hammers, etc.  Aside from that, the
finish is really crapped out -- it would need to be refinished
completely.  It has a mahogany finish.

If I were to get it, I could have it for $250, but wouldn't be able to
keep it indoors for years until I found a place of my own.  It would
likely sit in a Michigan garage.

What do you piano (and reproducing piano) experts think?  I know Bruce
Clark has already advised me to let it pass, but the price is so good.
