Central Park Carousel Organ
By Dan Kjeldgaard

I was on the Central Park carousel two weeks ago and the organ was not
sounding at all well: lots of missed notes, erratic beats on the drums
(if any) and rather out of tune! Wasn't somebody going to give it
some care?

[ Vincent Morgan writes in response:
 [
[ "About a month ago I visited the Central Park Carousel, which was
[ in full operation with people waiting in lines on a weekday in
[ October. I spoke to Sal Napolitano about the organ, etc., and he
[ said that as soon as the season closed, which I believe it has by
[ now, the organ is going to Virginia to be completely rebuilt by
[ a gentleman who used to live in New Hampshire and has taken care
[ of many of the New York area carousel organs for many years.
[ I believe his name is Mahan, but am not sure. It is not John
 [ Rutoskey. I asked specifically.
 [
[ "The carousel itself looks to be in good condition. It, too, is
[ scheduled to go to Ohio for a complete rebuild as well."
