eBay Crooks Offering My Instruments
By Charlie Hind

Scam on eBay

It has come to my attention that two unique mechanical musical
instruments that I built and still own are being offered for sale on
eBay by some unscrupulous scam artists.

The two instruments in question are my second music box and the Ocarina
Celestina. The pictures and descriptions (but not the misspellings)
were taken directly from the machine shop page on my web site. For
your reference the eBay listings for these two items are:

 http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2205512961&category=1442
 http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2575542311&category=359

Please *do not bid* on these two instruments, as they are not in the
possession of the anonymous crooks who listed them on eBay, and they
are not for sale.

eBay has been notified of this scam, but I would also be interested in
MMD reader's suggestions on how to deal with this unbelievable attempt
at fraud. Has anyone else experienced anything like this? It's like
opening up a real estate guide and seeing that someone in Texas is
offering your house for sale. Why would they choose such obviously
unique musical instruments rather than a Regina or Nicole that would
have a larger market and not be associated with a particular
individual?

I wonder is there more going on here than meets the eye, or are these
guys just plain stupid!
