Repairing Piano Roll of Varying Width
By Joyce Brite

I recently purchased an old roll that has two hard-to-find tunes.
The first tune plays okay, but I discovered that the roll width of the
second tune is slightly narrower, maybe 1/16" to 1/8", but it's enough
to cause tracking problems. I would like to have the entire roll be a
uniform width. Is it better to trim a narrow margin off the early part
of the roll, or, to add width where needed? Either way will be labor
intensive, and precision is a must. Normally, I wouldn't attempt it
except this is a roll I want to play repeatedly.

Thank you,

Joyce Brite
