Dear MMDs, The title of the book (Thesis),

  "Articulation and ornamentation in the pinning of mechanical
  organ cylinders -- an investigation and analysis of techniques
  described in Dom Bedos de Celles' L'Art du facteur d'orgues"

mentioned by Del Lohuis in the last MMDigest seems to me a bit strange,
as :

1) The technique was not Dom Bedos' but Engramelle's (and very
clearly described in the latter's book : "La tonotechnie ou l'art
de noter les cylindres").

2) Actually, in his important book "L'art du Facteur d'Orgues",
published in 1766-1778, Dom Bedos asked Engramelle to write the
chapters about cylinder organs ...

3) So I am not sure a thesis -- as good and knowledgeable be the scholar
may be -- would add anything to the original works, which are very good.

Of course, the main problem for most MMD subscribers is to know if these
two books, available in French in reprints (but difficult to find ...),
are available in English.  That seems the case for the book by Dom
Bedos, according to a preceding posting by Joe Orens.
