Insurance for Transportable Instrument
By Peter Neilson

Ref. 031229 and 031230 MMDigests. Check with Lester Kalmanson in
Maitland, Florida. He insures entertainment acts, and might be
at least able to help you find insurance somewhere. His agency's
phone number is 407-645-5000.

A lot of re-insurers (the big folks with whom the insurance agencies
place your little policy) have dropped coverage of "little" stuff
since 11 September 2001, in order to try to appear to their investors
as if they are doing "something" about excessive risk. Twenty percent
of the customers provide eighty percent of the business, so the theory
is to drop the eighty percent that are "unprofitable" and stick with
the remaining (but few) big revenue generators.

Note that this plan, applied iteratively, approaches a limit of nearly
zero business.
