PPCo and Schaff 'Wine' Motor Cloth
By John A. Tuttle

Hi All, Happy New Year! I ran a few experiments gluing PPCo purple
with white back motor cloth to both soft and hard woods, using both
Franklin Hide Glue and Craig Brougher's 'custom blended' hide glue.
I also ran the same tests using Schaff's purple with black back motor
cloth.

In no instance did I have any problem getting the cloth to stick
properly to the woods. I should note that the pieces of wood were
'new' (never before glued). And, as I have become accustomed to doing,
after I first applied the cloth to the glued surface, I quickly removed
the cloth, inspected the contact area to insure there was an even and
consistent 'spread'. Then I applied a thin second coating of glue and
pressed the cloth into place, and allowed it to dry.

I should also note that both the Schaff cloth and the PPCo cloth were
purchased in ten yard bolts less than two weeks ago. And, the batch of
Craig's glue that I used was 'fresh'.

Musically,

John A. Tuttle
