There is a quick way to tell whether or not a PianoDisc CD or floppy
disk has accompaniment: if the ID has four digits, it is acoustic and
plays only the piano; if it has five digits, such as cd12011 "Popular
Hit-Live!", it has background music as well.  Sometimes it is called
"Symphony" or "Live Orchestrated", or something like that.  Those that
are acoustic only say "Acoustic" on the label.

If your stereo does not play background music, I suggest that you make
sure all the connections from the back of the PDS228 control box are
proper.  If you are satisfied that they are, then find the knob on the
back of the control box that controls volume to the speakers.  It is
fairly tiny and innocuous, so check in your owners manual diagram of
the back.  The knob controls background output and may be turned down
so low that nothing is getting to your speakers.

To sum up, the CD you have does have background music on it.  You
may have a problem in the connections from the piano to your stereo.
The background volume may be too low.

By the way, always hook up your PianoDisc to a surge protector.
It's better to be safe than sorry.
