Carousels at Euclid Beach Park, Cleveland
By Jim Divoky

Both merry-go-rounds are still with us and doing fine. I don't
know about the child's version in Kiddieland. There were two large
carrousels right next to each other. The smaller, traditional
PTC #19 is undergoing restoration and will be installed in Downtown
Cleveland.

The larger Racing Derby is at Cedar Point. No brass rings at
Euclid Beach in 50's & 60's. As far as I know all the band organs
were preserved. I'm sure readers here will provide the details.

I liked the Dodgem, too. I even had one of the cars until last
Thanksgiving when my warehouse burnt down, taking with it my Cable
Euphona player piano and a built-up orchestrion, four old bumper
cars, lots of other amusement park stuff, old bicycles, old sleds,
coin-op machines, etc.

If you really want to recall Euclid Beach, take a look at
http://www.humphreycompany.com/ and you can order candy kisses
and popcorn balls. Unlike a lot of things from our youth, they
are exactly the same although the prices are considerably higher.

More info from National Carousel Association - 2000 Census.
