Vocalstyle Artist Buck Johnson
By Tony Dellaway

Robert Perry's mention of the 1950s LP makes me think that perhaps
we are confusing Buck Johnson, who I must admit I've never heard of,
to Bunk Johnson, the black American trumpet player who was part of
the great New Orleans jazz revival in the 1940s.

Cheers, Tony Dellaway

[ Most web sites misspell the name of Willie G. "Bunk" Johnson
 [ (1889?-1949). A good biography is at
 [ http://www.theiceberg.com/artist/24142/bunk_johnson.html.
 [
[ The trombonist I incorrectly recalled as a New Orleans musician
[ actually was Buck Johnson of San Francisco, active with S.F.
[ region jazz bands in the 1940s and '50s. -- Robbie
