Foot Pumped Piano with Xylophone
By Christine Robinson

A player piano with a xylophone installed, and then playing Chopin?
What a novel idea! Sounds a bit like Harry Corbett and Sooty, a great
favourite duo of mine in the 1950's here in the UK (and a favourite of
the late George Harrison's, incidentally).

It's good to hear different sounds coming from one's player piano.
For instance, I have 'The World's Music Series' roll of Anatol Liadov's
'Musical Box' (well, two copies, in fact: one says 'Annotated Series',
and the other says 'Audiographic Music').

It sounded quite dull when I first played it, then I continually
pressed the sustain pedal button on the Grunert Hupfeld player I have,
and lo and behold the piano was transformed -- it sounded just like
a musical box, as it says on the box, not a piano at all!
