Unknown Music Rolls With Wood Flanges
By Maggie Richardson

Recently I came across five piano rolls I had bought some months
ago thinking they were 88-note rolls. I remember when they came,
I opened "La Polka de la Raine" and took it to the piano only to
discover it and the other four were a bit narrow. Can someone tell
me anything about these rolls?

The flanges are wood. The right flange has a square metal-ringed
opening. The left flange has a round metal-ringed opening. The
wood is imprinted "adjustable flange" and "Pat'd Mar 7-1905".

I measured the paper on the roll which is 10-3/8 inches. The rolls
do not appear to be played from top to bottom; they roll in the
usual way with the tab down and label reading correctly. The label
on the boxes all state "Q.R.S Company, Chicago, Ill USA".

The titles and indicated prices are:

X1373 2" Valse Brilliante $3.00
1701 La Polka de la Reine $2.70
 1882 Mazeppa $2.40
 2164 Maritana Overture $3.00
 2939 Faust $3.00

I would like to sell them if possible, but need a description.

Thank you, (I hope)
Maggie Richardson
